Mariane gripped her notebook tightly to her chest as she watched Travis. The town was already several miles behind them. His silence was stabbing painfully at her but breaking the silence would mean giving him answers.
Something she couldn't do.
What would he think if she told him about all of the weird stuff that centered around her every time she wrote? The shadow and the reason for the character's name switched to hers?
